worship Ministry

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

We invite you to become involved in the dynamic Worship Ministry of First Baptist Opelika! Those involved in the Worship Ministry have a common purpose: to exalt the name of Jesus by leading God’s people in a time of genuine worship, to communicate God’s saving grace to the lost, and to encourage the hearts of believers. The people of First Baptist Opelika are enthusiastically encouraged to use their spiritual and musical gifts to bring glory to God. We offer a variety of opportunities available for you to both serve and experience Jesus Christ, while at the same time growing closer in fellowship with one another.

how to get involved

Our Adult Choir leads worship at the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services in the Worship Center under the direction of John Spencer, Interim Minister of Worship. The choir engages in a time of fellowship followed by rehearsal every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. In addition to leading worship on Sunday mornings, the choir is featured in special programs at both Christmas and Easter. We are a group of individuals, diverse in age and backgrounds, who love to sing. We would love to have you join us!

Come to any Wednesday evening rehearsal. No audition required.

The orchestra is also an integral part of our Christmas and Easter celebrations. No audition is required to join, but players should be of intermediate to advanced skill level.
