About
For every member of FBCO to memorize a chapter of scripture throughout the year 2024; thus, FBCO as a “body” having the entire Bible memorized. Additionally, we will provide a platform for people to indicate other chapters of scripture they have memorized for their own record keeping.
Everybody is invited to participate, but due to the number of current members we will have 3+ people per chapter (1210 / 1189 + 22 sections of Psalm 119).
Additionally, as people “pass away” and/or become new members we will need to create a “rolling” spreadsheet of the chapters to be memorized.
We will “sign up” individuals between January 1 and Easter (March 31). Each person will have the rest of 2024 to memorize their respective chapter. We will begin “uploading” them to the website / app in December of 2024 - available for 2025
Positive: Psalm 119:11 and 1 Cor. 12:12 - We are one body with one goal
Negative: In the event of continued “opposition” or animosity towards Biblical Christianity within our culture this “project” will ensure the availability of scripture to our FBCO family.
It is our desire to “upload” these chapters on our website / Bible app for people to hear FBCO individuals recite the various scriptures. Also, it is my desire that on occasion respective chapter memorization will be utilized in cooperate worship.
We will as a church family memorize each chapter in the KJV. There must be a single version for continuity. Though it may not be one’s “preferred version” it is easier to memorize.
Next Steps
Use your cell phone to record yourself reading your chapter. Speak clearly. Give the book of the Bible and chapter at the beginning of the recording. If you mess up, no big deal. You can erase and start over.
In 500 words or less, summarize what this chapter has meant to you and/or what God has taught you through this project. This recap will be used in creating an FBCO Study Bible.
Handwrite 2 copies of your chapter and submit to the church office, welcome center, or blue box outside of the office. Handwritten copies should be on 8 ½ x 11 paper or smaller. Any color or type of paper is fine. Please include the book of the Bible and chapter at the top of each page. (DO NOT write on the back of the paper.)
